What's the best gig you've ever seen? For me, it's a toss-up between Justice in the driving rain at London's Somerset House, and German metallers Rammstein in a velodrome in east Berlin. The latter probably edges it, given that it boasted a man in a cooking pot and an eyebrow-singeing phalanx of flamethrower-guitars.

Here in the office we've been debating our personal live music highlights. Let us know yours by posting a comment.

All this gig talk, by the way, was inspired by our greatest live bands poll. Muse have been making all the early running in that - but The Killers are catching up fast. Disagree massively? Come cast your vote to propel your favourite band to the top.

Elsewhere on the site, we've got two guest bloggers - Peter Hook on his top 10 Hacienda memories (I particularly like the one about calling Ryan Giggs a "nobhead"), and The Cribs' Gary Jarman, who has made a mixtape for NME readers.

Oh, and if you're casting around for some new music to make the weekend come quicker, Radar editor Jaimie Hodgson has been blogging hard this week - head over to NME.COM/newmusic to see who he's recommending this week.

Radar: the best new music of the week - first
Sex Beet Sex Beet Going out with a 'surfer chick' isn't as fun as it sounds. These days it amounts to the worst ilk of clothing ever, having to maintain a passable physique, and regular weekend excursions to such god-awful hen-night traps as Newquay.

Maybe this is the thinking behind London fear-punk trio Sex Beet's new single 'She Don't Surf'. It's the anti-surf anthem to pull the curtains tightly closed on your summer.

The band have given us a song to give to you: 'I'm In Love With You (So Shut The Fuck Up)'.
