What in the name of Kanye West has been going on with rock and roll this week? We were just getting over seeing Kurt Cobain sing Bon Jovi tracks in Guitar Hero (with a skeleton on drums no less) before a Lego version of Iggy Pop surfaced singing 'The Passenger'. Personally I found both hilarious; less so the Susan Boyle cover of The Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses' that did the rounds.

To add a further insult to this litany of serious injuries, literary turnip Dan Brown's only come out of the closet as a failed musician. Listen to his early musical endeavours and weep.

On a more positive note, the Daily Download is brimming with audio goodness, including exclusive remixes of Editors and White Lies plus great DFA duo Still Going, there's a great gallery of NME photographer Kevin Cummings' work on the site, Pavement have reformed and Jay-Z's latest album is with us. Hip hop hooray.

White Lies - A Place To Hide (Mirrors remix) - Free MP3 White Lies - A Place To Hide (Mirrors remix) - Free MP3 The latest MP3 giveaway is a remix of White Lies' 'A Place To Hide' courtesy of Brighton's self-confessed "pop noir" foursome Mirrors, who look like this (when they're at piano practice):

There seems be quite a lot of this heartfelt shimmer-pop at the moment (see also: the return of Echo & The Bunnymen, Chapel Club, etc). Must be the season and it's not unwelcome.

Download Mirrors' remix of 'A Place To Hide' on the Daily Download blog now. Mirrors release 'Into The Heart' on October 26.
