Mercury Music Prize, Jimi Hendrix ‘murdered’, Benicassim and Latitude festivals

Last weekend saw two very different festivals take place in Europe. Down on the usually sunny Spanish coast, Benicassim got so battered by the elements they had to shut down the site on Saturday, forcing Kings Of Leon to cancel. NME were in the midst of the tornado battling it out, bringing you frontline video reports from the carnage plus a whole load of backstage interviews and footage of the bands walking onstage.

Meanwhile in Suffolk rain was abundant but didn't stop play at the Latitude festival, where Thom Yorke previewed a new song and Little Boots and Broken Records played astonishing sets. Head over to the Latitude Festival page for pictures of the whole thing (including those painted sheep) and our blog round-up.

If you missed out on these festivals, NME Radio is giving away tickets to both the 1234 Festival in Shoreditch and Sheffield's Tramlines shindig this weekend. Listen online to find out more.

Elsewhere on the site, and we're still looking to nail the most overrated bands of all time. At the time of writing Fall Out Boy just knocked Lady GaGa off the top spot but My Chemical Romance are close behind. Head over to the poll to have your say, and if you think it's outrageous that smutty pop/emo is getting such a pounding, you can register that sentiment too.
