What Are The Best Songs To Listen To In A Snowstorm?
What Are The Best Songs To Listen To In A Snowstorm?
What Are The Best Songs To Listen To In A Snowstorm?

So it's January, literally freezing, half the country is stuck in a snowstorm and the other half dieting and staying sober - a pretty crappy time of year. There's one ray of sunshine in this most monochrome of months though; it's new music time. The latest issue of NME is full of new band tips and features, the Radar blog is giving away a 20-track mixtape of the best artists and the Daily Download is directing you to free downloads from the rest.

Whether you're into dubstep, dreamy pop or folk jangliness, there's something for you among the flurry. Plus we're looking for YOUR picks for 2010, so let us know who you're tipping for the top (no bigging up of your own / mates' rubbish bands though!)

In other news we just gave our homepage video player a tweak, to make room for even more NME videos and exclusives from your favourite bands, so keep an eye on the homepage and let us know who you want to see featured on the video blog.

Until next week...

Radar: the best new music of the week - first
French Horn Rebellion French Horn Rebellion French Horn Rebellion are one of those 'with-it' new live dance duos, like Shy Child, Chromeo and MSTRKRFT.

The Brooklyn pair produced MGMT's 'Time To Pretend', but they're no copy-cats, and instead peddle a brilliant dance-inflected electropop.

Head over to Radar this week to download a free remix of 'Friends And Beaches'.
